For this, our inaugural MOOC, we chose to focus on the Science of Learning because we feel it is What Every Teacher Should Know. As educators in schools or informal settings, we owe our students the opportunity to experience success in learning by incorporating findings from research on learning. And what makes teaching exciting is that we continue to learn and grow as professionals.

Designing and facilitating this course with the help of the talented team of Columbia’s Center for Teaching and Learning, has been a growth experience for us as well.

We have learned a lot about how to improve the MOOC as we prepare for the next time it will be offered in the spring and we look forward to incorporating your feedback. You might consider serving as a coach for a group of teachers, parents or students who may benefit from the MOOC themselves.
